Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about the SkinBelow MicroLift Kit.

How it works

What does the MicroLift Roller actually do?

The MicroLift Roller has 64 ultra-fine titanium pins at 0.25mm depth. You remove the protective cap, apply serum to clean skin, and roll the dome gently across your face and neck. The pins open micro-channels as you roll — your serum flows through them directly into living tissue, bypassing the surface barrier that has been blocking it.

Do I need to remove the cap before using it?

Yes — always. The roller ships with a protective cap over the needle dome. Remove it before rolling, and replace it after each use to keep the pins clean and protected between sessions.

How is this different from a dermaroller?

A traditional dermaroller drags needles across skin and is used separately from serum application. The SkinBelow MicroLift Roller is applied with serum already on the skin — the rolling motion opens channels and the serum absorbs through them simultaneously. Gentler, more precise, and more effective for ingredient delivery.

Is it the same as clinic treatments?

Same mechanism — micro-channel delivery. Clinical microneedling goes deeper (1–2mm) for collagen induction. AquaGold facials work at a similar depth to SkinBelow. The clinic charges £250–400 for the professional, the equipment, and the appointment. SkinBelow does the same delivery in 60 seconds at home for £49.99 once.

Safety and suitability

I'm nervous about needles. Will it hurt?

0.25mm is below the pain threshold for most people. The most common description is mild warmth — like pressing the back of a cold spoon gently to your cheek. If you feel discomfort, ease the pressure. Patch test on your inner forearm first if your skin is reactive.

My skin is sensitive. Can I use this?

At 0.25mm, yes — with care. Start 2× per week rather than 3×. Avoid use on active breakouts, open wounds, eczema, rosacea flare-ups, or any active skin condition. The included serum contains no fragrance or alcohol. Patch test on your inner forearm for 24 hours before facial use.

Is it suitable for perimenopause or post-menopause skin?

Yes — this is exactly what the kit was made for. After 40, oestrogen decline closes the pathways that allow active ingredients to reach the dermis. Micro-infusion bypasses that barrier entirely, delivering serums to living tissue where repair actually happens. Women in perimenopause and post-menopause typically see the most noticeable results.

Can I use it if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?

We recommend checking with your GP before using any new skincare device during pregnancy or breastfeeding. The caution is mainly around what serums you use — actives absorbed at greater depth may not be appropriate during pregnancy.

Results

How soon will I see results?

Most people notice their skin feels different the morning after the first session — fuller, more hydrated, like it actually absorbed something. Visible improvement in lines and texture typically shows from week 2–3. Week 4–8 is when most customers describe the most significant change. Use it 2–3× per week consistently.

I've tried everything. Why will this be different?

This is not a different product. It is a different delivery method. Whatever you've been applying has been sitting on the surface — not because it doesn't work, but because your skin's absorption pathways changed after 40. The MicroLift Roller bypasses that barrier. The actives you're already using can now reach the tissue where they're effective.

Using the kit

Can I use my own serums?

Yes. Any water-based serum works — hyaluronic acid, Vitamin C, peptides, niacinamide. Avoid oil-based products. The included Peptide Infusion Serum is formulated specifically for 0.25mm delivery depth, but your existing water-based serums work too.

How do I clean the roller?

After each use: rinse the dome head under warm running water, then spray with isopropyl alcohol (70%) and allow to air-dry completely. Replace the protective cap before storing. Replace the dome head every 8–10 sessions or immediately if you notice any damage.

When is the best time to use it?

Evening is best. Skin repair runs overnight and micro-channels close naturally within a few hours. Use on clean, completely dry skin. Avoid AHAs, BHAs, or active acids for 24 hours after. Always wear SPF the following morning — serums delivered at depth can temporarily increase sun sensitivity.

Can I use it on my neck and chest too?

Yes. The décolletage and neck area respond well to micro-infusion — this is one of the most common use cases beyond the face. Use the same gentle rolling motion, upward strokes, with serum applied to the area first.
